Every once in a while I get a little bit moony. The result of one of these fits is this lipstick. Clinique Different Lipstick in Surprise would not be my typical lipstick choice.

The color is a bit difficult to describe as it depends entirely on the type of lighting. The website describes it as "pearlized golden brown with surprise hint of purple on skin."

Under normal conditions, Surprise looks like deep purple-brown, with gold flecks which makes it look bronzy.  In certain lighting, the color can appear reddish-purple with hints of bronze and burgundy.
Clinique is famous for their Black Honey lipstick, and I feel that Surprise comes along that same line. The finish is satin, with subtle golden shimmers. It goes on sheer so it would look different depending on your skin tone - I mean it totally looked very different on the lips of the model vs. my own:

While this may look dark and a bit scary on the tube, it's actually not. It's a very wearable color. Pigmentation is average and somewhat buildable. Two coats would give you a semi-opaque color.
While the color maybe a bit bold for me; texture-wise, I give Clinique two thumbs up. Surprise goes on smooth, creamy and satiny. It didn't feel heavy and was very comfortable on my lips. Wear time was average with up to 3-4 hours through a meal and drink.
Overall: Clinique Different Lipstick in Surprise is a bold choice for those not used to dark lips. The bronzey mauve-red color would suite a wide variety of skin tones but would especially look great on darker skin. Although not matte, I'm in love with its texture and finish. Coverage is moderate and semi-opaque with up to 3 hours of wear. This is definitely a great option for those looking for a fall/winter color.
