Oy vey! This lipstick fiend can't seem to stop her obsession. This post is yet another lipstick review. I have a pretty pile of unreviewed lipsticks right now. I can't resist, there are just so many sales going on right now. As much as I want to have a go with these babies, I can't open them yet because I need to take pictures for the blog.

I have been remiss of my review duties lately because of my non-existent sleeping schedule. For the past week, I only get a few hours of shuteye so my eye bags and under eye circles are humongous right now. I look sleepy half of the time. Hopefully, I can sort out my insomniac tendencies soon.

Going back to the review, I have for all of you Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm in Complex. I got this one at a sale a couple of weeks back. This retails Php 595, but I only paid Php 695 total for 2 lipsticks (Buy one lipstick, get another for Php 100). This is described as a peach nude-y brown color. Normally, I shy away from peachy shades because they tend to wash me out. I took a chance on this because Sultry and Elusive has been great and I hoped that the texture of Revlon's Matte Balm would save me from those dreaded color-draining peach.

Swatched on my skin, the color is pigmented and appears to apply smooth. On my lips though, it was a different story. The lipstick applied patchy, emphasizing lines and flakiness. This is not surprising. Lighter colors do tend to have a hard time applying smoothly. I say: "It's just their nature, it's certainly not their fault if they lack the pigmentation to cover up lips that are already quite pigmented and quite dry and a bit flaky."

Texture was satiny and light - pretty much the same with my previous two Revlon Colorburst Mattes. The formula was not drying, but not very moisturizing neither.

I had to apply several coats to get the color to show up on my lips. This did not build up well because the layers formed patches on my lips. I had to pat color on my lips to achieve a consistent, even finish. On a positive note, this does not have that icky, sticky "lipstick" feel that I hate,

I figure I was right in my thinking that the darker, more pigmented colors in Revlon's Colorburst line would be the hits and would be the one to buy. Complex is a pretty and interesting shade, providing another dimension to my otherwise neutral nude lip collection, but application requires too much work. The light pigmentation struggled to apply consistently on my lips, so it appeared uneven and patchy on my lips no matter how much I apply.
FOTD with Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm in Complex
Overall: Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm in Complex is a fairly neutral peach nude that would be a perfect color for lighter skinned women. Darker skins might find the color too light so tread with caution. Pigmentation is good, offering a light wash of color to the lips without it looking "concealer-ly." Texture was smooth and creamy. Application was challenging and quite unforgiving. This settled on lines and emphasized dryness and flakiness. I still love my Revlon Matte Balms but this particular color is a miss for me.
#This post is very untimely. My tired, droopy face does not play well with this rather unassuming color. I appeared half-asleep in most pictures. Sorry for the nightmares. *_*
