Hey everyone. Hope you had a nice weekend. Today is the start of Holy Week so I have only three working days for this week. I can't wait to have a 4-day weekend and just spend it at home. It's been while since I've posted a makeup review so I will today.

I got this product as a freebie from beautyMNL after some purchases. While I'm more of a lipstick kind of girl, I can appreciate the sentiment behind this dual purpose product.

Since this is the first time I'm featuring this brand, here's a background:
Skin Genie offers a range of whitening and anti-aging products that cater to different beauty needs. Using only skin-loving ingredients, the brand provides a safe and gentle line of all-natural beauty solutions. Skin Genie products are suitable for even the most delicate and sensitive skin types.

Ingredients:
Distilled Water, Glycerine, Food Grade Propylene Glycol, Food Grade Colorant, Bentonite Clay, Zinc Oxide, Fragrance, Phenoxyethanol

I got the shade Tulip Red, which is a true red, similar to Benefit's Benetint. This tint has a very watery formula, and when I say watery, I mean it in its truest sense. I think Skin Genie has reformulated this product with a more of a gel-like consistency, but the one I got as a freebie is still the watery one. Consistency is very thin due to the watery formula so when swatched on my hand, it only delivered a hint of color despite it looking a bold and bright red on the bottle.

On cheeks and lips: Skin Genie Lip and Cheek Stain Alive in Tulip Red
On my cheeks: The foundation (Clinique Even Better) that I had applied on face didn't mix well with the watery formula of this tint. As you can see, it just kind of sat on my cheeks and didn't absorb on my skin. I was able to pat it on very carefully, so as not to disturb my makeup. After a few pats, I did decent pigmentation.

On my lips: My lips were not in good condition when I applied this tint, though I did apply and massages in some lip balm to get rid of the flaking and dry patches. Despite some prep work, the tint applied patchily and just settle in the inner corners of my lips. I guess I can say that it gave a "just bitten" effect which looked decent.

FOTD: Skin Genie Lip and Cheek Stain Alive in Tulip Red
I liked this tint more on my cheeks versus on my lips. I think you can build up the color on the cheeks by applying thin layers and blending well to make it look even and avoid any patches. On my lips, it was neither hydrating nor drying. The color didn't adhere to my lips despite some prep work. I think for low key days, when I only have light makeup on, I can use this to add color to my face. I can imagine that this can be convenient to bring along and apply even without a mirror. But for more heavy duty days, I think this product would not be up to the task.

Pros:
- Bright, flattering shade
- Easy to use
- Travel friendly and convenient
- Affordable

Cons:
- Applies unevenly
- Not long-lasting
