DrGL Sun Protection Lip in Sweet Pink |
Hey guys. I won't be posting or updating as much this week because we are observing
Holy Week. Also, I'm feeling under the weather the past couple of days so I can't really do a decent makeup look because I look all blotchy and red (Spring allergy season officially starts. I'll be posting a couple of lipstick reviews that have been languishing in my draft for some weeks now. I guess this week will be an unofficial "Pink Week" because I'll be featuring all pink-hued products.

Before I get into the specifics of the product itself, let me share a
bit of brand overview since this will be the first time I'm featuring
them here.

This lipstick was part of a Holiday Set I got from
Sephora Ph (formerly Luxola) but I never really got to using it. I rediscovered this a few weeks back when I was organizing my makeup and busted it out last week because I wanted a break from all the brown and nude lipsticks that I have been wearing. What can be more appropriate that a bright pink lipstick especially when the sun is out, and summer (plus the *&! heat) is in full swing. Technically, this is really not a lipstick product as DrGL calls this "Sun Protection Lip." But if it looks like it, feels like it, and packaged like it, then I can certainly call it as such.

Sweet Pink is a medium, bright pink with warm undertones. The shade is the quintessential pink color that would look great on anyone. This is intended not be a lipstick but as a lip treatment/protection, or more commonly a "lip balm." This also has SPF20 to protect lips from sun damage especially this summer.
How To Use: Apply at least 30 minutes before sun exposure. Reapply as needed, particularly after prolonged exposure, eating and drinking. Moisturizing
ingredients rich in vitamins and antioxidants help to stimulate
collagen production, keeping lips plump and highly kissable. Created to
complement every skin tone with a range of classic wearable colors that
will take you easily from work to play. via

As what can be expected from a lip treatment, this feels very moisturizing and creamy. It glided across the lips smoothly, evenly, and without any patches. It didn't emphasize any lines and dry patches. In fact, my lips look naturally plump, full and healthy.

And for what can essentially be classified as a balm, this delivered
opaque and full color with a single swipe. I was really impressed by how pigmented and intense the color was even with just a single stroke. You can definitely add more layers if you want a more vibrant look but one is sufficient. Adding to the great pigmentation is how comfortable and light it felt on the lips. It didn't feel sticky nor goopy as I applied it.

The color lasted up to 4 hours on me. I didn't mind reapplying though as I it feel more like a moisturizing balm rather than a lipstick. I guess I just got so used to my matte (and drying) lipsticks that I forget about that feeling. *_* This didn't leave any stain and I also didn't detect any smell.
Pros:
- Vibrant, universally flattering shade
- Sun Protection
- Opaque, Highly pigmented
- Very moisturizing
- Smooth, even texture
- Light, comfortable and creamy formula
- Average wear
- No distinct smell
Cons:
- Not readily available
- A bit expensive
