Hello there and TGIF. I've been MIA for the past days because my insomnia has kicked in full blown and I am sleeping very little. Anyways, sleep issues aside, I have a review of a random lipstick from Covergirl. I feel that this brand lacks familiarity with their consumers and that's why it's not popular as Maybelline nor Revlon here in the Philippines. I picked up a few of their lipsticks from ebay last year and it's just now that I have rediscovered them. For today I have the CoverGirl Outlast Longwear Lipstick in Phantom Pink.

Claims:
- Color and moisture that lasts all day
- All day color that doesn't flake or crumble
- All day moisture

The lipstick is housed in a basic and (maybe) cheap, both in feel and look. The tube feels light and flimsy. You can see the color of the lipstick through the clear lid. I have the feeling that if you travel with this, the plastic tube would easily crack or break. Also, the lipstick itself doesn't go all the way down so when you replaced the cap, it has the tendency to smudge all over the clear plastic cap. It looks messy unless you take the time to wipe it every time you use.

Phantom Pink can be described as a light-medium rose pink with blue undertones and a creamy matte finish. I can barely pull-off this shade since it has a tendency to wash me out and make me look sickly due to my pigmented lips. I feel though that the color looks pretty paired with a heavy eye makeup as it balances the lack of color on my lips. This will look beautiful on those that have a lighter skin tones. Another way to make the color work is to use it as a tint and then top it off with a pink or clear gloss for a no-makeup makeup look.

This delivered full opaque color in two light swipes. It's highly pigmented which means you don't have to layer too much. This is also a plus because this lipstick has a tendency to settle into lip lines and emphasize flakes and cracks.

Application was a bit problematic since it did not go on as smoothly as I would have expected. Though there was minimal pulling, this lipstick felt heavy and sticky. The texture felt weird on my lips. I can feel that I am wearing it and has the constant urge to wipe it off my lips.

On the upside, the creamy formula didn't dry up my lips though I would not say that it was moisturizing. The color fades within a few hours (maximum of fours hours) and it didn't leave any stain. Another thing that also bothered me was the smell. It has the typical "lipstick" scent, like a waxy fruity vanilla which bothered me quite a bit. Overall, wearing this lipstick was not a pleasant experience. If you want this particular pinky shade, there better options than this.

  1. The shade looks good, but I think this is not a lipstick for me. I prefer lightweights.
