Golden Globes 2016: Favorite Looks
Hey everyone. Hope you all woke up on the right side of the bed. :) Awards season is in full gear and I am also on the lookout for them to see the latest styles and trends both in fashion and beauty. I've always found the makeup and dresses celebrities are wearing on the red carpet fascinating and aspirational. I watched the Golden Globe Awards this morning and here are ten of my favorite beauty and fashion looks:

Golden Globes 2016: Favorite Looks
Before I go on with my favorites, some highlights on the goings on off the stage. For one,  Leonardo DiCaprio won an award but got spooked by the Queen. We finally have confirmation that he is personally incapable of interacting with women who (1) are not supermodels, (2) above the age of 25, and (3) not Kate Winslet. (see evidence below)
Because Kate Winslet is defier of all rules. and so irresistible, even Mr. DiCaprio cannot help himself.

(Back to regular programming) The trend to watch for this year is soft, glow-y makeup with mostly fresh and modern hairstyle. The beauty looks on the Golden Globes red carpet were muted and nude with emphasis on impeccable complexion and the glow-from-within radiance. I barely saw inky, smokey eyes on the women and lip colors were natural-looking. The hairstyles were no different, this year's red carpet looks are mostly uncomplicated - which is good news for us mere mortals. These style are more accessible and easier to copy more than ever. Here are my top ten beauty inspirations from the Golden Globe Awards:
Lady Gaga in Versace - Golden Globe Awards 2016
Lady Gaga in Versace
Lady Gaga is the epitome of retro beauty with her platinum blonde, soft wavy bleached hair, bold and thick eyeliner and matte skin. The black Versace gown she wore gave her a waist-nipping silhouette any 50's bombshell would envy. Props to Gaga for keeping it classy.
Alicia Vikander in Louis Vuitton - Golden Globe Awards 2016
Alicia Vikander in Louis Vuitton
There were a number of white gowns in the red carpet and Alicia's sparkling white Louis Vuitton gave her the simple sophistication that anybody would envy. I liked the pleat detail as well as the criss-cross back, both of which veered away any "apron-y vibe." Her neutral smokey eye makeup was done by the one and only Charlotte Tilbury. Topping off her glowing and gorgeous look is an elegant twisted updo.
Zendaya in Marchesa - Golden Globe Awards 2016
Zendaya in Marchesa
Zendaya is known for her quirky hairstyles but for this year's Golden Globes, she kept it glamorous with her long, flowing waves and sleek middle part. Her lash-heavy yet neutral look provided an anchor for her rather risky fashion choice. This red, embroidered, layered Marchesa gown is beautiful and showed off her flawless complexion. To top it all off, her impeccable brows is giving me major envy.
Kate Winslet in Ralph Lauren - Golden Globe Awards 2016

Miss Kate has always looked perfect and glamorous in any red carpet. Hairstylist Renato Campora, working for Fekkai, gave the actress a wavy, asymmetrical updo to show off her diamond earrings. Her seductive, bedroom-eyes, neutral makeup look is courtesy of Lisa Eldridge (my personal favorite). This whole look is a lesson in how to rock the red carpet.
Lady Gaga in Versace - Golden Globe Awards 2016
Emilia Clarke in Valentino
Emilia Clarke looked every bit a khaleesi in this sheer, embroidered black gown. The whole look is rather modest, with buttoned, high neck and a sheer cape. Accessories were kept to a minimum so as not to overwhelm the look and her petite frame.  The makeup is also very understated but lent a mysterious effect with her hazy wash of taupey eyeshadow and peachy lips.
Jennifer Lawrence in Dior Couture - Golden Globe Awards 2016
Jennifer Lawrence in Dior Couture
I like the fresh take that Jennifer Lawrence embraced in this year's red carpet. The fiery red cutout gown was simple and gave the actress a youthful elegance. The whole look is completed by a massive diamond collar Chopard necklace which gave emphasize to her face. With the dress making a statement, her makeup was pared down and kept neutral with just a splash of red on her lips. Her platinum lob was twisted into a textured updo with just a touch of volume at the roots.
Rosie Huntington-Whiteley in Atelier Versace - Golden Globe Awards 2016

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley delivered us a sun-kissed fresh-from-the-beach look. She glowed just as brightly as her golden dress with a lovely light tan, soft makeup, and wispy waves. Her bronzed goddess look was complemented by her flawless delicate, beaded Versace gown with a chiffon slip.
Lily James in Marchesa - Golden Globe Awards 2016

Lily James floated on the red carpet in her ethereal Marchesa gown. She looked every bit a regal queen in her billowy, flowy, sheer ensemble. She wore her hair in a wavy lob, with smokey eyes, and a light nude, pink lip. I certainly do love her.
Cate Blanchett in Givenchy Couture - Golden Globe Awards 2016
Cate Blanchett in Givenchy Couture
Cate Blanchett is forever the queen of the red carpet. For the Golden Globes, she wore a light pink, custom Givenchy Couture. I provided two photos, because it is that heavenly to look at. With the sweeping fringe, sheer panels and intricate embroidery; the dress moved with her and caught the light, making Cate look otherworldly.

For her makeup, she rocked smokey grey eyes with a mod pale pink lipstick. The actress' side-swept voluminous bob and long lashes were pure sophistication.

Special Mention:
Kate Bosworth in Dolce and Gabbana - Golden Globe Awards 2016
Kate Bosworth in Dolce and Gabbana
Major props goes to Kate Bosworth for fulfilling her dream of becoming a sequined, bedazzled, mermaid Malibu barbie. It takes a special kind of woman to actually wear this much glitter without looking gaudy. Kate is the picture of elegance, lighting up a rather bland red carpet with her Dolce and Gabbana dress. She let her gown shine (literally) by wearing muted makeup, with pinched cheeks and mauve lips, and a sleek updo.
