Hello everyone. It's National Lipstick Day so I'll be sharing an old favorite brand. NYX was one of the first brands that I had collected when I started getting into makeup. It's still one of my reliable and affordable go-to brand until now. I have collected most of their Soft Matte Lip Creams and I thought I have reviewed them all but apparently, I haven't. So today I have a review of the shade Cannes.

This lip cream comes in a transparent plastic tube with a twist up doe-foot applicator. I find it convenient that I can see the lipstick color in the tube. It makes it easy to spot when you have a lot of lipsticks lying around. The doe-foot applicator also works well and I can get a precise application with it.

SMLC19 Cannes is described as a "matte muted mauve." It is a medium rosey mauve with warm undertones and a soft matte finish. The color is close to my rather pigmented lips. I like that it gives me more color than the usual nude. This shade definitely livens up my complexion and would also be flattering on most skin tones.

Pigmentation is excellent and you get opaque coverage with a single swipe. You do have follow-up with another layer to get even and smooth pigmentation but overall, you get full pigment with less product.

This creamy applies satiny but will dry to a matte finish. The formula is smooth and velvety, consistent with the rest of the shades from the line. I like the texture of the NYX's Soft Matte Lip Creams because they are lightweight and comfortable. They don't feel heavy on the lips. You'll hardly feel that you have any lipstick on yet the color is saturated and opaque. This lipstick is very forgiving to "not-so-perfect" lips and can cover lip lines and cracks and won't emphasize patches.

The matte formula is not very drying and long-lasting. The color didn't smudge but it will transfer so you can consider reapplying. The lipstick faded evenly, with the color still in good shape for up to 4 hours.

Pros:
- Flattering rosey
- Smooth, even texture
- Lightweight, creamy formula
- Opaque and saturated color
- Highly pigmented
- Non-drying

Cons:
- Not transfer-proof
